According to the report, the FBI swept away crucial documents in the Russia-Trump campaign investigation, including the memoirs of FBI Director James Comey, about his talks with President Donald Trump, for fear that Trump would close the probe.
According to CNN, the FBI took several steps to shield the documents under the leadership of FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe after Trump fired Comey in 2017.
Surely, McCabe had investigated Comey’s investigators into the agency’s software system, SENTINEL, where they could not be scrubbed in case Trump also expelled McCabe (which he eventually did).
In addition, according to CNN agents, FBI agents hid at least three copies of the memoirs and other documents in “remote locations around the Office.”;
