Several dozen cases of viruses occurred in the USC fraternity line

A coronavirus outbreak occurred this summer on a street near the University of Southern California, where many sisters are found, the Los Angeles Times reported. The university detected about 40 cases of people living on 28th Street that tested positive for COVID-19, said Dr. Sarah Van Orman, head of student health at USC. Van Orman said a significant number were linked to four fraternity homes, but it was unclear whether the infections involved members of the fraternity, who often rented rooms over the summer, the Times reported Thursday. Van Orman said it’s mostly over, and there have been no new cases over the past week. Overall, about 150 USC students and employees have tested positive for the virus. University plans for the 2020-2021 academic year require most students to learn online, but some will be on campus and there are measures such as strict physical distancing. Accommodation will be limited to one student per bedroom in USC residences, suites and apartments. Some rooms will be vacant, so there will be space for quarantined students if there is an increase in infections during the semester. On August 3, USC will have an external company to begin a testing program of campus populations to identify, isolate, contact the trace. and contain new infections.
