Breonna Taylorthe mother knew in advance that her daughter would become the first person not to be Oprah to appear alone on the cover of O magazine … because O told herself.
Sources with direct knowledge explain TMZ … Oprah’s team turned to one of Breonna’s family lawyers Ben Crumpseveral weeks ago to see if he could get in touch directly with his mother, Tamika Palmer.
We were told there was no hesitation on Breonna’s family … Oprah got Tamika’s number and gave her a call in early June … shortly after O posted a tribute to birthdays to Breonna on Instagram.
We were told it was the first time the two women had spoken and that it was just them. That’s when Oprah revealed her plan to Tamika to introduce Breonna to the cover and ask for her blessing.
Our sources say Tamika was “completely terrified” of Oprah’s gesture, calling it an incredible moment, and of course, she has been honored that O has done something she had never done as a tribute to Breonna.
As reported … cover of Breonna it is historic, as it is the only time Oprah did not participate. He stepped aside for one of his last print editions and dedicated it to Taylor declaring, “If you close your eyes to racism, you become an accomplice.” The words “THEIR MATTERS OF LIFE” appear on the cover.
Breonna was killed by Louisville police on March 13 at her own home in an annoying raid with a “no hit” warranty. So far, his death has not resulted in any arrests, which has sparked countless protests … along with the death of George Floyd.
In an interview with “CBS This Morning,” Oprah expressed a desire to protest as well, saying … “If it weren’t for COVID, I would walk the streets.”
Luckily, he found another shocking way to do his part.
