Demi Lovato appeared during the streaming of the GLAAD Media Awards 2020 gala on Thursday, July 30 to offer some sincere words of support to the LGBTQ community, especially trans youth. “I want to specifically remind trans youth that it matters. I know things are crazy and you may not have your usual support system around you … but don’t let anyone, especially our government, fool you into thinking “You are much less than perfect and thought to be,” Lovato said. “Be proud of who you are, keep your voice strong and strong and know we are here to fight for you.”
Pointing out the “outrageous discrimination” suffered by trans people of color in America, Lovato introduced one of the fiercest voices in this community: Shea Diamond. The stunner singer and her socially distanced band nailed the celebrated anthem “I Am America,”; which is the HBO-themed song They were here and one of our favorite LGBTQ songs of the year.
